Southeast Bank Foundation, a sister concern of Southeast Bank Limited (SEBL), has distributed scholarships among 1,992 students - 1,722 in higher secondary level and 270 in graduation level.
The scholarships were given at a reception held at a hotel in the capital on Saturday, said a press release.
Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr Atiur Rahman attended the ceremony as the chief guest, while SEBL Chairman Alamgir Kabir was present on the occasion as the special guest.
Southeast Bank Managing Director Shahid Hossain presided over the awarding ceremony.
Higher secondary and graduation level meritorious students from poor families took part in the ceremony.
The bank's Board of Directors' members, guardians of students and noted personalities were also present on the occasion.
Southeast Bank Foundation initiated a scholarship programme for poor and meritorious students in 2009 as part of the bank's corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.
The foundation has, so far, distributed 1,317 scholarships tothe secondary level students.
Scholarships were distributed among 200 students in HSC level and 60 students in university level.
