
Citi Ananda Alo Sahitya Puroshkar 2016 was announced on February 27 during a meeting held by the committee entrusted with the task of delivering the award. The meeting was held at Bangla Academy. Shamsuzzaman Khan, director general of Bangla Academy read out the names of the awardees. Rezanur Rahman, editor of Ananda Alo and noted litterateur of children's fiction, Lutfor Rahman Riton were among those present during the announcement. Channel i televised the announcement live. The awards will be formally handed over in a ceremony due to be held in the first week of March. This ceremony will also be aired by Channel i in real time. The awardees were selected based on two separate categories. Winners of A category will receive a crest and thirty thousand taka in prize money while B category winners will receive a crest and prize money of ten thousand taka each.
Category A has three sub-categories namely- autobiography and memoir, novel, children's literature and poetry. Abul Mal Abdul Muhit's "Shonali Dinguli" and Muntasir Manun's "Dhakay Khal Pol O Nodir Chitrakar" jointly won the prize for the best autobiography and memoir, Selina Hossain's "Nihshongotar Mukhor Shomoy" won the best novel prize, Aslam Sani's "Nirbachito 100 Chora" won the prize for children's literature and finally Piyas Majid's "Kobi-ke Niye Kobita O Chaitanna" and Mujib Irom's "Shri Hattakirtan" have jointly grabbed the prize for best poetry.
In the "B" category, which focuses on first publications by authors, Ehsan Hafiz's "E O se O" has been adjudged the winner.
