Mashrafe Mortaza becomes UN Goodwill Ambassador

Bangladesh's limited-overs cricket captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has been selected as a goodwill ambassador of the United Nations.

Mashrafe told media that the UN's Dhaka office has confirmed him personally about the selection. "But, I'm not yet receive any formal paper," he said.

Mashrafe will be the first Bangladeshi player to work with the United Nations directly.

Earlier, the UNICEF selected ace cricket all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, film actress Mousumi, and magician Jewel Aich its goodwill ambassadors in 2013 while cricketers Mohammad Ashraful and Habibul Bashar Sumon and Table Tennis player Zobera Rahman Linu in 2005.
