MUNSHIGANJ, Feb 16: Bangladesh Coast Guard and Fisheries Department in a joint drive seized 500-mound of jatka (hilsa fry) from a launch on the Meghna river in Gazaria upazila of the district on Tuesday morning.
A coast guard team and officials of fisheries department conducted the drives at 'MV Rasel-1' on the river and recovered the fish, said Coast Guard officer Mustafijur Rahman.
The owners of the hilsa fry, however, managed to flee the scene sensing the presence of the team.
Later, the seized jatka were distributed among the local madrasa and orphanages.    ?BSS
