Bangladesh Women's National Football Team had to stay satisfied with the bronze medal in women's football discipline of the SA Games-2016 as they were defeated to India by 5-1 margin in their last group match on Saturday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Shillong in India. The winners dominated the first half with a 3-0 margin. Yet the losers scored a comforting goal they consumed two more in the second half. Earlier in their last match, the Bengal Tigress confirmed the bronze following a 2-0 win over Maldives. If they could win or do a draw in the match, then they would clinch the silver at least. The fixture of the game was not in favour of the women at the first place. Rescheduling at the eleventh hour left them no time to take rest after reaching Shillong. So, in the first match, Bangladesh suffered a 3-0 defeat to Nepal. But, they returned in the game with a 2-1 win against the Lankan women in the second match and outplayed Maldives by 2-0 in the third match. When the men team, who are the defending champions of men football, failed to keep their trophy, Bengal women at least kept the honour by securing the bronze. Bangladesh women booters clinched bronze in the last edition of the SA Games football in 2010.
