The 4th founding anniversary of the Department of Television and Film Studies of Dhaka University (DU) was celebrated at the Teachers-Students Centre (TSC) auditorium of the university on Sunday.
Meanwhile, BSS Honour's first year and Master's final year students of the department were given reception on this occasion.
Dhaka University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique addressed the function as chief guest. Chairman of the Department of Television and Film Studies, Prof Dr AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan presided over the function while Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed addressed it as special guest.
In his speech, Prof Arefin Siddique urged the students to learn the true history of the country as well as to present it to the general public through media. He said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had dedicated his entire life to develop the socio-economic condition of general public in the country. "Students will also have to love general people by following the ideals of Bangabandhu" the VC added.
He called upon the students of the department to utilise modern ICT facilities properly to make Bangladesh a prosperous country. Earlier, they celebrated the 4th founding anniversary by resealing balloons and cutting cake at the TSC premises and auditorium of the universality.
