Govt earns Tk 97.16cr from khas land leasing: Sharif

The government has earned Taka 97 crore 16 lakh 43 thousand three hundred and 54 as revenue from non-agriculture khas land leasing out in the 2014-2015 financial year. Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif disclosed this while replying to a question from independent lawmaker Haji Mohammad Selim in the Jatiya Sangsad Sunday. The minister told the House that the government has a policy for leasing out and management of non-agriculture Khas lands. Khas lands are leased out as per the policy, he added. Replying to another question from treasury bench member Nurunnabi Chowdhury, he said that the government allotted 1,430.77 acres of land among 978 landless families in Lalmohon and Tojumoddin upazilas in Bhola district since 2008-2009 financial year. "The government has a plan to lease out khas lands among landless farmer families and implement Ashrayan and cluster village (Guchhogram) project in future," Sharif informed the House. ?BSS
