'Public univ to be set up in Kishoreganj'

KISHOREGANJ, Jan 24: President Abdul Hamid Sunday said the government has planned to set up a public university in Kishoreganj along with the development of communication infrastructure of the district.
"Initiatives have been taken to establish a public university in Kishoreganj. Massive programmes have also been taken up for development of communication infrastructure of the district," said the President while addressing the centenary celebration programme of Azimuddin High School here.
Describing the educational institutions as the factory for building worthy citizens, the President asked the teachers to make their best efforts to turn the students into educated and skilled human resources for development of the country.
"We must remember that we all are indebted to the country as well as the people. Educational institutions are run with the money of the people and our children study there, so it is the responsibility of all of us to maintain congenial academic atmosphere," he added.
President Hamid recalled the glorious history of the students of Bangladesh and said the students made outstanding contribution to establishing the right of the mother language, and liberation struggle and war.
He asked the students to devote themselves to the welfare of the country and the people upholding the spirit of their glorious past.
Terming the centenary celebration of Azimuddin High School as historic and delightful, he extended his buoyant greetings to all teachers, students and guardians who were behind the success of this 100-year old school.
He said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted to turn this country into golden Bengal.
Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has launched "Vision-2021 and 2041" to build a happy, prosperous Bangladesh, he said and asked the present and former students of Azimuddin High School to work along with Sheikh Hasina to materialize the dream of golden Bengal. ?BSS
