Manikganj: Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma River resumed on Saturday morning after one hour of disruption caused by dense fog.

Mahiuddin Rasel, manager (Commercial) of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Aricha, said they kept suspended ferry services from 7:30 am to 8:30 am due to blurred visibility for dense fog.

Four ferries lay motionless in the middle of the Padma.

About 200 vehicles, including buses, trucks and cars, remained stranded along with several hundred passengers on both ends of this important route.

However, the ferry services resumed around 8:30 am as fog started disappearing with the sunrise.

Earlier, BIWTC authorities kept suspended ferry services and plying of the water vessels from 2:30 am to 3:40 am as thick fog enveloped the area.
