MOULVIBAZAR, Jan 22: Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha has strongly stated that he will not allow any judge to write judgements after retirements. His latest comments on the subject come when his earlier remark that writing judgment after retirement is unconstitutional evoked mixed reactions. He was speaking at the dinner hosted by Moulvibazar Bar Association on Thursday. "I will not let you touch even a single public document after retirement. That is the bottom line," he said. "And as for the judge... what's his personal interest in writing judgments after retirement? Why is he interested in writing judgments after retirement?" he asked. "The court will look after the matter. Here, a wrong practice is continuing. Should I steal because there is a precedent? Should I allow someone to [accept] a misdeed because someone else has done so?" he asked. "No," he replied to his own questions, "I will not allow you to perpetuate these wrongs." "We will have to correct ourselves to protect law and Constitution," Justice Sinha said. ?bdnews24.com
