Man killed in clash over land dispute in Sylhet

SYLHET, Jan 18: A man was killed and 15 others injured in a clash over a land dispute at Baonpur village in Bishwanath upazila of the district on Monday
morning.
The deceased was identified as Jahur Ali, 35, son of Monu Miah, a resident of the village.
Abdul Hye, officer-in-charge of Bishwanath Police Station, said there had been a long-standing dispute between Ayas Ali and Master Abdul Matin over a piece of land in the village.
The supporters of Ayas Ali dug soil from the land on Sunday which came to light Monday morning.
Later the followers of Abdul Matin went to the house of Ayas in the morning to inquire about the matter.
At one stage, they were locked into an altercation with Ayas's men
which turned into a fierce clash and continued for half an hour.
The clash left 16 people including Jahur injured.
The injured were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where doctor declared him dead.     ?UNB
