Bangladesh Olympic Team (U23 team) played 1-1 draw against Bahrain in their Group-B first match of the 4th Bangabandhu Gold Cup International Football Tournament at the Shams-Ul-Huda Stadium in Jessore on Sunday.
Yousuf Sifat put Bangladesh ahead in the 19th minute. Receiving a cross pass in the danger zone from Rubel Mia, Yousuf dribbled past the visitors’ defenders and took a right footer shot from the six yard box to fire the net, 1-0.
Jasim Alshaikh scored the equalizer in the 23rd minute utilising Bangladesh’s young side defensive lapse, 1-1.
Bahrain reduced to 10 men in the 89th minute of the match as their player Anwar Ali got marching order receiving red card.
Bangladesh Olympic team played pressing football and kept 53 percent control over the ball in the match.
Bangladesh Olympic team will face the Maldives at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka on Wednesday (January 13) while Bahrain will play against Cambodia on the same day and venue.
