BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia sat with pro-BNP professionals on Saturday night to discuss the country’s latest political situation and work out strategies for the December 30 municipal polls.
The meeting began around 9:35pm at the BNP chief’s Gulshan office.
Chaired by Khaleda Zia, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, a group of engineers, doctors, lawyers, teachers, journalists, agriculturalists and cultural activists joined the meeting.
Party insiders said the BNP chief is likely to discuss the country’s current situation and various issues relating to the municipal polls with the professionals.
They said she will seek opinions of the professionals as to how the party will tackle the situation if the ruling party men try to rig the polling and obstruct voters, intimidate polling agents and capture polling stations.
The BNP chief will also call upon them to actively work for her party’s candidates and carry out electioneering in their respective areas.
Earlier, last week, Khaleda had separate meetings with the party’s standing committee members and senior leaders and devised strategies for the municipal polls and formed various committees.
