After her meeting with her party’s policymakers, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is going to sit with her party’s other senior leaders on Saturday night to work out strategies for the December-30 municipal polls.
The meeting is scheduled to start at 8pm at the BNP chief’s Gulshan office with Khaleda in the chair, said a party press release on Friday.
BNP vice chairmen, chairperson’s advisers, party joint secretaries general and organising secretaries will join the meeting.
Earlier on Thursday night, Khaleda had a meeting with her party’s standing committee members in the same office and elaborately discussed issues relating to the municipal polls.
At the meeting, the BNP policymakers decided to forma a central monitoring cell and seven divisional committees to supervise the municipal polls and assist the party’s candidates to carry out electioneering.
The meeting also decided not to boycott the elections under any circumstances.
Party insiders said Khaleda during her meeting with the senior leaders will discuss the formation of the party’s a central
monitoring cell and other committees.
She will also seek opinions of the leaders as to how the party will tackle the situation if the ruling party men try to rig the polling and obstruct voters, intimidate the party’s polling agents and capture polling stations.
The BNP chief will also give them necessary directions to actively work for the party’s candidates and strongly carry out electioneering.
