2,798 fishermen get ID in Noakhali

NOAKHALI, Dec 9: A total of 2,798 fishermen got identity cards from the Department of Fisheries (DF). In this connection, a distribution ceremony organised by Sadar upazila fisheries office was held on the upazila parishad ground on Wednesday.
Acting Chairman of Sadar upazila Nilufa Momin was chief guest while District Fisheries Officer Bilkis Tahmina chaired the event.
Among others, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nurul Islam, and Member Secretary of district AL Miah Mohammad Shahjahan also addressed the programme.
The speakers said, the DF here are trying to motivate local fishermen about formalin issues, netting ban on jatka and mother hilsa fish; the ID card distribution is one the processes.   
Senior Fisheries Officer of Sadar upazila Sadhan Chandra Sarkar delivered the welcome speech.
