The High Court on Wednesday postponed the Municipal election in Ranishongkoil in Thakurgaon for six months due to area demarcation dispute.
An HC bench of Justice Zinat Ara and Justice AKM Shahidul Haque passed the order following a writ petition.
The court also issued a rule asking why the election schedule without area demarcation should not be declared illegal.
Local government secretary, chief election commissioner, Thakurgaon district administrator have been asked to explain within two weeks.
Shariful Islam, a councilor candidate of the area, filed a writ petition in this week challenging legality of the election schedule without area demarcation and gazette publication.
