A female student of Dhaka University was allegedly sexually harassed by a staff of a Dhaka-bound passenger bus from Manikganj on Friday afternoon.

SI Khadijatuj Sahela of Darussalam Police Station said the 3rd year student of the DU has filed a written complaint with the said thana in the capital.

In her complaint, the victim alleged that a helper of the bus of 'Shuktara Paribahan' sexually harassed her on her way to Dhaka.

The incident is under investigation, she added.

"I was sitting in the front part of the bus and there were few passengers in the back. After passing Singair upazila at about 1:30pm, a helper named Mamun sat beside me and tried to touch me. He also used slang language," the victim student alleged.

She also alleged, "As I protested, the tormentor took me to task and forced me to get down in the mid way. When other passengers came to my help, the perpetrator could not get me down".

"Soon after arrival in Gabtali, I went to the police station to lodge a complaint," the harassed student added.

The victim said she heard the helper's name-- Mamun-- as called by another staff.
