Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia will surrender before a trial court today (Monday) following the directives of the High Court in the Niko Graft Case and seek bail. The appearance of Khaleda Zia in the trial Court was confirmed to the daily Observer on Sunday morning by her counsel Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon. Khaleda is likely to come to the Court of Aminul Islam of Special Judge Court No-9 before noon. The High Court on June 18 removed all the barriers to starting the trial proceedings in the case against Khaleda. It also ordered the former prime minister to surrender before the trial court within two months after its verdict reaches the trial court. A division bench of the High Court comprising Justice Md Nuruzzaman and Justice Jafar Ahmed passed the verdict in the graft case. The judgement copy of the High court reached the Special Judge Court No-9 on September 29 and the trial court fixed today (Monday) for hearing the case.
