A muazzin was killed and three others injured when miscreants opened fire at a mosque of Shia community at Haripur of Shipganj upazila in Borga on Thursday evening.
The deceased is identified as muazzin Moazzem Ali, 70. The rest injured are Abu Taher, 70, Shahinur Islam, 35, and Aftab Ali, 42.
The incident took place during magrib prayer.
Doctors of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital declared Ali dead after the bullet hit injured was taken to the hospital.
Bogra Superintendent of Police Arifur Rahman Mandol told bdnews24.com that a person was killed and three others injured in the incident.
The chief of district police, however, could not tell immediately who are involved in the attack.
The incident took place after a month of bomb attacks at a gathering of Shia community at Hoseni Dalan in the old part of Dhaka at 1:30am early Saturday on October 24. Thousands of worshipers gathered there to bring out the annual Ashura procession.
Two person died in the incident.
Islamic State, a militant organisation, claimed the responsibility of the attack. The government, however, insisted that there was no existence of IS in Bangladesh.
