Bangladesh Under-21 Hockey Team digested a 3-1 defeat to Pakistan juniors in their opener of the Pool-B match of the Men's Junior Asia Cup hockey on Saturday at the Wisma Belia Hockey Stadium in Kuantan, Malaysia.
According to the Hockey world ranking, Bangladesh are ranked 29th while Pakistan are 10th. So apparently Pakistan were an enough strong opponent.
The Bengal boys will play 31st ranked Oman boys today (Sunday) at the same venue.
Before going to Malaysia, Bangladesh coach Mahbub Harun, who took charge of the team two-month ago, said that his boys didn't get enough time for a good preparation. The team got eight players from the national team though the boys only practiced for 25 sessions.
Coach said that time, "We are at the bottom line in the ranking among the participants of the event. Yet we will try to do better than all other teams."
Earlier on Wednesday, the Bangladesh hockey contingent went to Malaysia to take part in the eighth episode of the junior hockey cup.
Splitting into two groups, a total of eight countries are taking part in the event. Among them, India, Malaysia, Japan and China are in the Pool-A while Bangladesh, Korea, Pakistan and Oman are in the Pool-B.
