Chosen by Awami League Parliamentary Board as the party candidate on Monday, she will file her nomination paper today (Wednesday) for contesting the by-election to Moulvibazar-3 constituency.
November 11 is the last date for filing nomination paper as a candidate for the December 8 elections.
The seat fell vacant following the death of her husband on September 14.
On her nomination, Sayeda Sayra Mohsin, also vice-president of Moulvibazar district unit of Women AL, was accorded warm reception at the Shahid Minar in Moulvibazar town on Tuesday evening by the locals.
According to the schedule declared by the Election Commission, scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on November 14, while November 22 is the deadline for withdrawing the nomination papers.
Her constituency comprised of Moulvibazar Sadar and Rajnagar upazilas where 3,47,954 registered voters are eligible to vote.
She was born in a noted political family of Moulvibazar. Her grandfather Syed Kaptan Ali was the provincial education minister of the then Assam government.
