7 Jamaat-Shibir men placed on 5-day remand

A Dhaka court on Saturday placed seven activists of Jamaat-Shibir on a 5-day remand in a case filed under the Explosive Substances Act.

Metropolitan Magistrate Jahangir Hossain passed the order when Sub-Inspector of Motijheel thana Awal Hossain produced seven Shibir activists, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islam, seeking a 10-day remand.

Awal Hossain, also IO of the cases, in his remand petition said the Shibir activists need to  interrogate to know their motive behind keeping explosives in its office. 

The accused are: Kabir Hossain, Shahadat Hossain Zahid, Khalilur Rahman, Mizanur Rahman Naim, Rashed Azam, Al Amin and Abdul Mohaimen.

Two cases were filed against the arrested persons. One case was filed under the Explosive Substances Act and another case was filed under the Special Powers Act.

Jamaat-Shibir activists with explosives were arrested from its office in the capital on Friday evening.
