Taiwanese couple hurt in city attack

A Taiwanese couple was injured by some employees in their residence at Uttara in the capital on Thursday night.

Injured Wang Ming Chee, 54, and his wife Lily Hawa, 50, were admitted to a private hospital in the city early Friday.

They also alleged that the miscreants looted Tk 6 lakh from the house.

A case has been filed with Uttara Police in this connection.

DMP deputy commissioner (media) Muntasirul Islam said the two foreigners have been staying at a house of sector 4 at Uttara for last 10 years.

As a sequel to a business conflict, an employee and his associates stormed their house at about 11:45pm on Thursday and attacked them.

The miscreants hit them on their heads, he added.

Police, however, detained a man named Jahangir in this connection.

Ealier on September 28, assailants shot dead Italian citizen Cesare Tavella in city's Gulshan and Japanese national Kunio Hoshi in Rangpur on October 3.
