US satisfied over law and order in Bangladesh: Home Minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Thursday said US expressed satisfaction over the role of Bangladesh to improve the law and order in the country.

Visiting US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs William Todd expressed his satisfaction over the law and order in Bangladesh when he met the home minister, he said.

US Ambassador in Dhaka Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat was present on the occasion.

After the two-hour meeting at the secretariat, they held a joint-briefing.

William Todd mourned the recent killings of publisher and police personnel. During the briefing he said they discussed different bilateral issues.

"We are shocked at the recent killing incidents those took place in Bangladesh and we are expressing satisfaction over the role of Bangladesh to improve the law and order in the country," he added.

The Home Minister said US assured Bangladesh of cooperating the country in combating terrorism and militancy.
