The government on Monday appointed Mizanur Rahman as the next Bangladesh High Commissioner to Canada.
He will be replacing Kamrul Ahsan, the Foreign Ministry said.
Rahman, a career diplomat, belongs to the 1985 batch of BCS foreign affairs cadre. Currently he is serving as the Secretary (Bilateral & Consular Affairs) in the Foreign Ministry. He had earlier served as ambassador in Egypt and the Netherlands.
Besides those assignments, he served in Bangladesh Missions in Colombo, Moscow and Manchester in different capacities.
He obtained his M.Sc in physics from the University of Dhaka. He is married and blessed with two children, a Foreign Ministry release said.
