
He said in the first phase, that ends next June, all roads in Gulshan, Baridhara and Niketon would be covered. Work has already started on it, he added.
He was speaking at a seminar organized by a non-government organization, BRAC, at the Shuchona Community Center, Shyamoli.
He said that there would be no right turns on the Gazipur-Tongi to Moghbazar route. Rather there would be four to five U-loops. "Once this plan was implemented, the traffic jam would considerably come down," he said.
Referring to waste disposal in the city, he said that there would be 72 dumping stations for the purpose. Shopkeepers would have to dump their wastes in those designated spots. If the directive was violated, if necessary, the deviant shop would be shut down, he added.
The program was a part of a two-month long campaign ending December 31, 2015.
