Three Jamaat Leaders, including former President of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Zahidur Rahman and pro-Jamaat Lawyer Advocate Asad Uddin, were placed on a two-day remand on Monday after they were arrested on suspicion of plotting sabotage act in the country.
Md Mahbubul Alam, Inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of Police, produced them before the CMM court with a plea to grant a ten-day remand for questioning.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jahangir Hossain sent them to police custody for interrogation. DB Police arrested them from the spot while some Jamaat - Shibirmen sat for a secret meeting in a restaurant at Asad Gate under Mohammadpur police station on October 24 evening.
Sensing the presence of police, some Jamaat-shibirmen fled the spot.
Those who fled the scene are Dr Abu Yusof, Associate Professor of NU, Mojibor Rahman, former DMD of Diganta Television, Dr Abdullah Al Mamun, physician of NICVD, Adv Shisir Monir a lawyer of ICT, Rejaul Karim, former President of Islami Chhatra Shibir, Chhatra Shibir leader Dr Lakiat Ullah, columnist Dr Minar and Barrister Jobaer (an Expatriate in London). Police are planning to file a sedition case against them.
