The Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport has been put on red alert on Monday fearing sabotage.

Airport sources said, visitors' entry has been restricted in the airport.

Armed Police Battalion (APBn) senior ASP Alamgir Hossain Shimul said, the security measures have been beefed up at the airport.

UNB adds, sources at the airport said that the authorities have taken the decision not to allow visitors inside the airport as the intelligence agencies have information that saboteurs carrying explosives might enter the airport in the guise of visitors.

The intelligence agencies also have the information that the saboteurs might carry out explosives that might be undetectable by metal detectors and archways, according to the officials.
