Tamim Iqbal will organise three cricket tournaments in Chittagong in the name of his father. He confirmed it at an agreement signing ceremony with Goldmark as Brand Ambassador on Wednesday.
He said, "I will arrange three tournaments in the name of my father."
About the purpose of arranging such tournaments he said, "Once, 10 players from Chittagong represented the national team. But now only one. There are numbers of young cricketer in Chittagong. I think it is important to correct their basics, improve their skills. If we can organise a good tournament they will get chance to play with each other. There are some academies but if they play against each other that will be better. So the tournament is very important. Today (Wednesday) I talked with Papon Bhai (BCB president Nazmul Hasan) for his help. I also talked with Chittagong Mayor AJM Nasir About the tournament."
Tamim also informed that the tournament will not hamper his cricketing career as he will form a management to run the tournaments.
Bangladesh were supposed to play a home Test series against Australia this month. But Australia postponed the tour concerning security threat. That was disappointing to Tamim but he also thinks for that they got the opportunity to play the National League.
He said, "Of course it is disappointing. There was a reason behind that. But there is a good point. Generally the national team players do not get the opportunity to play the National League. This year we got chance to play four matches."
"It would be better if we can play against Australia. But that was not in our hand. BCB is handling the matter. I am sure we will play against them," he added.
Tamim is one of the six icon players of BPL and they will be allocated today (Thursday). Tamim said he will be happy if he can play for his home Chittagong. He also mentioned that he will try to deliver his best even if he plays for others as well.
"All want to play for his own division. But at the end of the day we are professional cricketer. We will try to do better wherever our luck allocated us. I will be very happy if I can play for Chittagong. But this is not like that I will be upset if I play for others. I will always try to deliver my best," said Tamim.
Zimbabwe will tour Bangladesh in earlier November and Tamim thinks the more they will play the more they will improve.
He said, "Still I am not sure that from when we will play against Zimbabwe as the fixture is not published. I believed the more we will play the more we will get chance to improve."
