A Bangladeshi national, working for a food mart at the US, has been killed by a robber in Florida.
Mustaque Ahmed, 61, was shot by an Afro-American man, who robbed cash from the store at gunpoint on Saturday.
Mahbubur Rahman Milon, Awami League’s Florida chapter, said Mustaque, who hailed from Brahmanbarhia, had taken up the work at a store in the Shell Food Market at 629, Rizwood Drive at Sebring City in Florida seven months ago.
Earlier, he was staying with his daughter in Atlantic City.
Milon said police rushed Mustaque to a local hospital where he died a few hours later.
Bangladeshi community leader in Florida, Aminul Islam Apu said that police had retrieved the CCTV footage in the store after the murder. "But the robber is yet to be tracked down."
After his funeral prayers on Friday at a local mosque, Mustaque's body will be flown for burial to Bangladesh, where his wife and children are waiting, said Apu.
Another Bangladeshi Shahidul Alam, 58, was shot dead in front of his house in Florida in August this year.
