KHULNA, Oct 20: Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu community, is being celebrated amid great enthusiasm in the city and the nine upazilas of the district.
The festival was marked by puja, arati, recitation from scriptures, distribution of proshad, offerings of devotional songs and bhajans.
Huge crowds were seen at every Puja mandaps throughout the day especially after evening.
The district administration and Puja Udjapon Parishad Committee (PUPC) sources said 112 Puja mandaps have been set up this year in the city and 799 in the district.
District administration has distributed a total of 455.5 metric tons of rice to celebrate Durga Puja this year. The celebration will end through the immersion of idols of goddess Durga on Bijoy Dashami on Thursday.
