CPB, SPB end 5-day road march, call for united move to save Sundarban

Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Socialist Party of Bangladesh (SPB) concluded their 5-day joint-road march to Sundarban at Puraton Court Chattar in the district town on Saturday will a call to ignite a movement to save the Sundarbans.
The road march was concluded at rally held at Puraton Court Chattar in Bagerhat town on Saturday afternoon. SPB general secretary Khalequzzaman, its central leader Bazlur Rashid Firoz, CPB central leaders Monjurul Ahsan Khan, Ruhin Hossain Prince, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Speakers at the rally urged the government to take necessary steps to save the Sundarban.
They also urged the local people to join at the national conventions to save the Sundarban on November 14 which will be organised by the National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Port.
The two left parties started the 5-day road march from Jatiya Press Club in the capital on October 13 demanding the cancellation of all types of environmentally harmful projects, including the under-construction coal-fired thermal power plants at Rampal. The road march crossed Manikganj, Faridpur, Jhenidah, Jessore and Khulna districts before arriving at Bagerhat.    ?UNB
