Space's cutest heroes jump from video games to the big screen with next year's animated movie.
It's the end of the world as we know it - literally - in the first trailer for the movie adaptation of video game franchise Ratchet & Clank. If nothing else, it's an attention grabber. After all, how many other trailers actually start with the destruction of a planet? The animated movie, directed by Kevin Munroe, features James Arnold Taylor and David Kaye reprising their video game voice roles as the titular heroes attempting to stop Chairman Drek (Paul Giamatti) from destroying every planet in their galaxy.
Other voice talent making the jump from the PlayStation game series to the big screen include Armin Shimmerman and Jim Ward, while John Goodman, Rosario Dawson and Sylvester Stallone voice characters created specifically for the movie. The game franchise launched with the original Ratchet & Clank release in 2002, continuing through a further 10 releases - including Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Ratchet: Deadlocked and Secret Agent Clank - for PlayStation and mobile platforms. The series will be relaunched next year with a new game based on the movie.
Ratchet & Clank will be released April 29, 2016, by Gramercy Pictures. ?Hollywood Reporter
