Chittagong: Authorities have deployed Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in the city and district to ensure security for smooth celebration of the holy Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu community.
Official sources said three platoons of BGB started patrolling the city from 6 pm on Saturday, while three other platoons of BGB were deployed in Sitakunda, Patiya and Hathajari upazilas of the district.
They said three more platoons of BGB would be deployed in the city and one more would be stationed in the district tomorrow.
The measure was taken to ensure foolproof security during the Puja celebration, the sources said.
The BGB will remain vigilant to check any violence and untoward incident until the end of Durga Puja, they added.
