The Ministry of Public Administration on Wednesday issued a gazette endorsing Mymensingh as a new division, raising the total number of administrative divisions of the country to eight. However, new Divisional Commissioner and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Mymensingh Range are yet to be appointed. The Ministry sources said regular activities of the new division will begin after appointment of the two most important high officials. The Ministry order said that new division will be formed comprising Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sherpur and Netrakona districts of greater Mymensingh area keeping Tangail and Kishoreganj districts outside of it. Public Administration Ministry's Additional Secretary Mahibul Haque said the NICAR endorsed the new division on September 14.
