Rangamati : The joint forces arrested a top leader of Myanmar insurgent group ‘Arakan Army’ from Islampur in Rajasthali upazila early Wednesday.
The arrested person was identified as Dr Reneen Sowe. He was an accused of two cases filed with Rajasthali Police Station.
Acting on secret information, a joint team of army, police and BGB members conducted a drive
in the area and arrested Reneen, also a physician, around 3am from an under-construction mosque.
On August 26, the joint forces raided the house of Reneen Sowe at Taitong College Para in Rajasthali upazila headquarters and arrested an Arakan Army member.
They also seized Arakan Army's uniform, a laptop, digital camera and horses from there.
Later, two people, including the caretaker of the house, were also detained. All of them are now in Rangamati jail. Dr. Reneen was absconding since then.
OC of Rajsathali Police Station Ohid Ullah told the Daily Observer that Renin Sowe would be send to the district court on Wednesday.
