PM tells DNCC, DSCC reception

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday reiterated her commitment to materialise her father's dream 'Sonar Bangla' saying that she is ready to make supreme sacrifice to build a hunger- and- poverty-free country.
"I will continuously work to build a hunger- and- poverty-free 'Sonar Bangla' dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and is ready to make supreme sacrifice in this regard," the Prime Minister, also the daughter of Bangabandhu, said.
Hasina, also the Awami League President, said this while addressing a reception programme by Dhaka's two city corporations at South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in the afternoon.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) jointly organized the gala reception for Sheikh Hasina in honour of her receiving the world`s highest environmental accolade 'Champions of the Earth' and the International Telecommunication Union`s 'ICT Sustainable Development Award'.
The Prime Minister accepted the award in recognition of Bangladesh's far-reaching initiatives to address climate change.
Dedicating the awards to the people of the country, Sheikh Hasina said, "Till today, all the successes we have achieved and all the awards we have won, I have dedicated those to the people of the country as only they can claim successes. I am ready to sacrifice everything for the nation."
Eminent academic and Professor Emeritus Rafiqul Islam, LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Engineer Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain and Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sayeed Khokan addressed the gala function, while Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Haque chaired it.
Earlier, on her arrival at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 4.25 pm, the Prime Minister was received by LGRD Minister and two city mayors.
Earlier on October 3, the ruling Awami League and its allies of the 14-party alliance organised a grand reception for PM Sheikh Hasina on her return from the USA.
