'Bodies of BD Hajis to be handed over in 45 days'

The bodies of Bangladeshi pilgrims who died in a stampede in Mina outside the Saudi Arabian city of Makkah will be handed over to their families within 45 days, Joint Secretary of the Religious Affairs Ministry Md Borhan Uddin said on Wednesday.
Speaking to journalists, Borhan said that the Bangladesh Hajj Mission will stay in Makkah for next 45 days to ensure finding out the missing Bangladeshi
pilgrims and hand over the identified Bangladeshi stampede victim's bodies.
Usually, the temporary mission officials wrap up their work and return to Jeddah after the Hajj.
A total of 769 people died in a stampede in Mina on September 22, when pilgrims were heading for the ritual of stoning the Jamarat pillars-the symbolic rejection of the devil. The Joint Secretary said that there were at least 26 Bangladeshi pilgrims among the victims. Bangladesh Hajj mission has identified 13 out of a total of 26 victims. The bodies of identified victims will be handed over to their families within 45 days.
The rests of the unidentified Bangladeshi stampede victims will be buried at KSA, said a high official of the Ministry.
He also said that a total of 52 Bangladeshis are still missing since the incident. We are still searching for the missing persons. We are apprehending that the death toll of Bangladeshis may rise.
