2 girls drown in Bay

Cox’s Bazar : Two girls drowned in the Bay at Kalatali point of the Cox’s Bazar sea beach on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Tasnim Akhter, 10, daughter of Lokman Hakim of Sadar upazila, and Mina Akhter, 12, of Kutupalang Rohingya camp in Ukhia.

Another boy --Ahmed Yunus, son of Nazir Ahmed of Jilangja union was admitted to a local hospital with injuries.

Cox’s Bazar Fire Service's operation commander Abdul Aziz said six boys and girls, including Tahmina and Mina,
were taking bath at the Kalatali point sea beach around 12 noon.

Suddenly, a strong wave of water washed them away.

Beach activists rescued them and took them to Sadar Hospital at about 1pm where doctors declared Tahmina and Mina dead.
