Mahfuza Akter Happy, the domestic help of cricketer Shahadat Hossain, on Monday gave her statement before a Dhaka court narrating how she was tortured by the cricketer and his wife.

Metropolitan Magistrate Snigdha Rani Chakraborty recorded the statement under section 22 of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act in the afternoon.

After recording of the statement, the 10-year old girl was sent back to the One-stop Cricis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she was undergoing treatment.

On September 7, Shahadat Hossain and his wife were sued for torturing their domestic help Happy.

Happy, daughter of Arab Ali of Jamalpur district, was rescued from Pallabi in the capital on September 6 with injuries in her body. Being
tortured, she managed to come out of Shahadat’s house in the morning and rescued at night.

Later, a case was filed under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Mirpur police station that night.
