The National Committee of International Council of Museums (NCICOM) organised a seminar titled "Exhivitions in Museums" at Bangladesh National Museum (BNM) on September 19. The seminar was presided over by Jahangir Hussain, chairman of the National Committee of International Council of Museums and keeper of the Department of Contemporary Art and World Civilization, BNM. M. Azizur Rahman, president of the Trustee board of BNM was present as chief guest at the event. Md. Ramzan Ali, secretary of BNM was present as special guest. Asma Ferdousi, assistant keeper of Department of Ethnography And Decorative Art of BNM delivered the keynote speaker at the event. The event was emceed by Syed Shamsul Karim, academic officer of BNM. Dr Md Alamgir, keeper of BNM; Dr Niru Shamsunnahar, deputy keeper of BNM; A.K.M Saifuzzaman and Shawkat Imam Khan assistant keepers of BNM and others were also present at the event. After discussion at the seminar a question and answer session was followed.
M. Azizur Rahman believes that a museum is the most important accommodator of nation's history and heritage. He feels that in propagating this significance of museums digitalised exposition systems that are under development can go a long way.
Asma Ferdousi in her keynote speech discussed how modernised display systems work and how they can help museum officials in smoothly projecting artworks and documents.
Jahangir Hussain stressed the importance of trained personnel for the progress of a modern museum. He related to how the NCICOM has facilitated international level training of 16 individuals by sending them abroad and is continuing with this enterprise.
