After visiting the spot on Saturday afternoon, Deputy Inspector General of Dhaka Range of police SM Mahfuzul Haque Nuruzzaman told journalists that the accused were closed to the District Police Lines.
But the DIG refrained from disclosing that how many police members were withdrawn.
He also said the reason behind the clash and police firing is under investigation.
However, two separate committee have been formed to investigate the incident.
Tangail District Administration formed a five-member committee while Police Headquarters formed a three-member body, headed by additional DIG (discipline) Md Alamgir Alam.
The committee, formed by the Police HQs, has been asked to submit the report within seven days.
Meanwhile, local administration handed over the bodies to the victims' families at about 3;30pm.
Police opened fire when the locals brought out a procession protesting torture of a mother and son at Kalihati of Tangail on Friday afternoon. Three people were killed and 50 others injured in the incident.
