A significant change in the organizational structure of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is likely to come soon to strengthen the party by including the pro-Tarique  Rahman leaders in the fore front of the party.
The party has decided to bring some major changes including creating some new front organisations, increasing the number of posts in the national standing committee and executive committees of the party.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is leaving Dhaka for London on Tuesday night for treatment purpose but it is certain will talk with her son about the key-issues of the party reform move.
BNP official sources said that an Emirates flight carrying Khaleda is scheduled to depart Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 9:30pm on the day.
A significant number of young leaders close to Tarique Rahman, Senior Vice- Chairman of BNP would be rewarded while some others whose performance affected the party badly will be ousted from the committees, another source said seeking his anonymity.
Abdullah Al Noman, Vice- Chairman of the party told the Daily Observer, "This will be a personal tour of the party chief. She will get treatment for eye and to spend time with her elder son Tarique Rahman who is also undergoing treatment there. As the mother and son both are politicians, so it is quite normal that they will discuss political issues."
Sources close to the BNP Chairperson said the National Standing Committee and Central Executive Committee are likely to be recast, bringing in a number of new faces, mostly young leaders who are committed to the party.
They also observed that those who had betrayed the organisation during its troubled time should not be allowed to get back to the fold.
In a massage the BNP has already asked party's grassroots chapters to complete formation of all district, city, upazila and municipal committees by 30 September. The central body of BNP will constitute the committees if new committees are not formed in normal process by stipulated time.
The reorganisation efforts began on August 9 through holding view-exchange meetings between central- and grassroots-level leaders and it may continue till November 30.
The party will announce names of conveners and a few joint conveners after dissolving district committees to prepare for the councils.
Meanwhile, the party's all-level leadership has taken an all out effort to restore Tarique Rahman's image as he was censured for corruption allegation during the BNP-led four-party alliance.
Even Hawa Bhaban, the then office of BNP chairperson, was also criticised as the alternative powerhouse during that time.
