Wildfires rage
LOS ANGELES, Sept 14 : A state of emergency has been declared as raging wildfires spread in the northern part of drought-ridden California, possibly killing one person and forcing thousands to flee the flames.
More than 5,500 firefighters are struggling to contain the monster blazes that have charred more than 100,000 acres (40,470 hectares), authorities said, destroying hundreds of homes and commercial structures.     ?AFP

LONDON, Sept 14 : Anti-austerity left-winger Jeremy Corbyn began eking out a shadow cabinet on Sunday, striving to unify Britain's Labour Party after a wave of grassroots support swept him from a fringe lawmaker to the party's leader.
The veteran socialist's decisive victory marks a break with the legacy of former prime minister Tony Blair and his more centrist "New Labour" movement of the 1990s, and surprised many within the party.     ?AFP


Bomb blasts kill 26
DAMASCUS, Sept 14 :  At least 26 people were killed on Monday in two car bomb attacks in the northeastern Syrian city of Hasakeh, state television reported.
The broadcaster said they were killed in a blast in the Mahata neighbourhood of the city that followed a first blast in Khashman district.?AFP


Woman 'thief'
BANGKOK, Sept 14 :  A Chinese woman who allegedly tried to smuggle a stolen diamond out of Thailand by swallowing it was released from hospital on Monday after doctors removed the expensive gem from her gut.     ?AFP
