About 100 students of East West University began protests at Rampura road boycotting classes and examinations.

On the other hand, students of North South University, Uttara University, Daffodil International University and International University staged demonstration at Baridhara, Kolabagan, Shankar and Uttara House Building areas.

Additional police have been deployed in the ares to avert any untoward situation.

Earlier on July 4, the NBR issued a notification imposing 7.5 percent VAT (Valued added tax) on the tuition fees of the private universities and medical colleges.
