The quote is picked from the television promotion of the ongoing Bangladesh Internet Week, which is being celebrated across 487 Upazilas in the country including three mega expositions in Dhaka, Rajshahi and Sylhet. The curtain of the nationwide celebration of internet will be off today (Friday) with the mega expo in city indoor stadium in Sylhet.
The leading internet based businesses, mobile software development organizations, web portals and device companies participated here along with other internet based commodities and services organizations. There are taken different initiative related to internet literacy. The visitors got opportunities to experience those internet initiatives practically at the events.
Earlier, on Saturday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the nationwide internet literacy programme from his residence, which was broadcasted simultaneously in Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar
On Wednesday, State Minister of Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam inaugurated the day-long expo as chief guest while State Minister of ICT Zuniad Ahmed Palak was the special guest.
BASIS President Shameem Ahsan, Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council S.M. Ashraful Islam, Grameenphone's Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Mahmud Hossain, BASIS Senior Vice President & convenor of the Bangladesh Internet Week Russell T. Ahmed speak at the inaugural session.
State Minister of Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam said, the government has given privilege to Rajshahi just after Dhaka while he addressing as chief guest here.
State Minister said, 'There will be developed the Barendra Silicon Valley alike Silicon Valley of USA. As a part of progress of the digital initiative, there being organized second mega expo of Bangladesh Internet Week here in Rajshahi after Dhaka."
Shahriar Alam thinks the technology shabby citizens of Rajshahi will learn more about connectivity through the mega internet celebration.
State Minister of ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said," We will reach high speed broad band internet connectivity at all Upazilas by December this year. All unions will be connected by 2018. Over 5 crore and 7 lakh citizens use internet. ICT division of government, BASIS and Grameenphone are stretching hands together to connect new one crore internet users every next year. Bangladesh Internet Week is one of the mega initiatives of the government's vision."
BASIS President Shameem Ahsan said, 'The divisional town Rajshahi has notable progress in technology. We are very hopeful to introduce local innovations like Facebook, Google, WhatsApp in near future. There will be developed skilled human resources from Rajshahi. To achieve our digital vision, Bangladesh Internet Week is being celebrated here. We hope, the young minds of Rajshahi will be inspired through the BIW to co-opt with technology.
Chief Corporate Officer of Grameenphone Mahmud Hossain said, "We have introduced new service EasyNet to reach the unconnected. Bangladesh Internet Week is very synchronizing with our vision "Internet for All'. We are very hopeful to achieve our goal with the BIW initiative in association with ICT Division and BASIS."
The Bangladesh Internet Week, which is claimed as the largest internet literacy campaign in the world according the organizers, is being celebrated at 487 Upazilas across the country and along side of internet expos in three mega cities Dhaka, Rajshahi and Sylhet.
Earlier, there have been organized Bangladesh Internet Week at Banani Field in the capital from September 5 to 11. BIW will come to an end shifting Sylhet on September 11, after celebrating the mega expo in Rajshahi here on Wednesday.
There have been organized seminars and workshops at around 50 Universities across country as a part of the nationwide celebration of internet. On the sideline of those schedules, there have been telecasting seven policy meetings at different media.
The nationwide internet literacy campaign will contributes to connect around one crore people as new internet users by next year which will cover more citizens in digital services and promote internet based entrepreneurship, according organizers.
