Bodi charged, trial begins Oct 6

A Special Court in Dhaka on Tuesday framed charges against Awami League lawmaker from Cox's Bazar-4 constituency, Abdur Rahman Bodi, in a case filed for amassing illegal wealth.
The Judge of Dhaka Special Judges Court-3, Abu Ahmed Jamadar framed the charges against the ruling party lawmaker Bodi.
After framing the charges, the court fixed October 6 for beginning the trial of the case which was filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The judge read out the allegations before him and asked him whether he is guilty or not. He pleaded his innocence and demanded proper justice.
Bodi who is widely believed to be engaged in drug dealings in Cox's Bazar, submitted to the ACC on March 20 that he along with his wife and children possessed movable and immovable property worth Tk 5.20 crore.
 But his income tax return revealed that they possessed property worth Tk 16.06 crore till June 30 last year.
In his wealth statement Bodi concealed property worth about Tk 10 crore 86 lakh 81 thousands 669.
In this connection on August 21 in 2014, the ACC Assistant Director Md Abdus Sobhan filed the case with the Ramna Police Station against Bodi
On May 7, the Deputy Director of ACC Md Monjur Morshed submitted the charge sheet before the Court against him.
