Lightning kills one, injures four in Panchagarh

Panchagarh: Separate incidents of lightning killed one person and injured four others in different villages under Boda upazila here amid inclement weather on Wednesday, police, hospital and local sources said.

Solaiman Ali, 30, of village Bhellaipara was killed on the spot and his wife Pervin Akhter, 25, and villager Shahinur Rahman, 42, were injured after lightning struck them while working in a nearby crop field.

In two separate incidents of lightning, housewife Mariyam Begum, 30, of village Balabheer Goalpara and Arafat Hossain, 20, of village Primabud were injured.

The villagers immediately admitted the injured persons to Boda Upazila Health Complex from where Shahinur Rahman was shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

Talking to the Daily Observer this afternoon, Chairman of Boda Sadar Union parishad Abu Bakar Siddik and Officer-in-Charge of Boda Thana Abdul Kalam Azad confirmed the incidents.
