Law minister Anisul Huq said the government has no plan to disband Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), the elite force.
"RAB would remain functional as the force has proved its necessity to the people," said the law minister while talking to reporters after a meeting with UK Minister of State for International Development Desmond Swayne at Gulshan in the capital on Tuesday.
After the murder of seven people including former councilor Nazrul Islam and a senior lawyer in which RAB involvement was found, the issue to disband RAB came to the limelight.
The role of RAB was questioned again when a number of ruling party leaders was killed in 'gunfighting' with RAB.
When journalists asked the law minister whether RAB would be disbanded, Anisul Huq ruled out the possibility saying the elite force proved its worth to the people.
