Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr Atiur Rahman has advised Indian Bandhan Bank to remain focused on inclusive finance and green banking.
The BB governor made the suggestion while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Bandhan Bank in Kolkata on special invitation from the bank, formally launched by Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Sunday, according to a press release issued by the central bank.
Dr Atiur delivered a special speech on the 'Role of Doorstep Banking in Financial Inclusion' on Saturday at the pre-launch event of the bank. He also made a presentation on how the Bangladesh's central bank has been designing its financial inclusion and monetary policies to ensure financial stability in the country.
"We can bring the unbanked into the net of formal financial system which would promote financial inclusion and hence inclusive growth," he said.
Dr Atiur said that technology driven online/mobile phone/smart card based payment modes are among major recent innovations in the Bangladesh financial sector.
